Position of Off-Centreboard

The clearing of the centre of the boat by moving the centreboard into the port airbox is great, though I have noticed something else.

If you want to sit on the port side deck and be in a position that doesn't get the transom dragging in the water or get the bow digging in when turning, then the centreboard is probably in about the spot you want to sit.

As with everything else in life, it's a compromise. Now I have a clear deck well but have lost the optimum spot for sitting.

  1. Howdy,
It is a little bit paradoxical with the OzRacer and the PDRacer. Most experienced sailors think they will be sitting near the middle of the boat ... but the reality is that you end up sitting just behind the centrecase.

The only exception is really light winds where you might creep a little forward ... but at that point you are sitting in the cockpit anyhow.

Very best wishes - and great blog!

  2. Thanks Michael.

As is usually the case, I'm probably just doing it wrong. With better weather and more practise I'm sure I'll find the best spot to sit.
